Camping in the Uintas

Posted by Picasa

The boys(minus little Gavin) went camping with Grandma Leesa, Grandpa Mike, Tyler and the boys, and some of the Washburns and their families on July 31st-August 1st. They backpacked their belongings in, and only complained a little! ;) They really enjoy camping-all three of them. They seemed to have a good time and the scenery looks so beautiful! They used up a lot of their energy...hmmmm....maybe they should go more often!

We had the chance to go through the new Oquirrh Mountain Temple. Of course, it is beautiful and it was fun for the kids to see. We got some great pics this time. The day we went through the Draper Temple, it was very rainy and cold.

Happiness Is...

Spending an evening at girls' camp and experiencing deja vu around the testimony meeting campfire, having not been since I was 14.
Happiness is:
When returning home, finding out that the person who was missing me the most, was...
my eight-year-old.
Happiness is:
A six-year-old daughter who's current favorite TV show is this:

Happiness is:
Having a husband who spent all day Saturday fixing things around the house including replacing our leaking toilet.
Happiness is:
Finding photos on my camera taken by my six-year-old son of himself.
Happiness is:
Kissing this face every day.

BYU MOA

Last week we took a trip down to the BYU Museum of Art to see the Walter Wick exhibit. He is the very creative creator of the "I SPY" series. We are fans of those books and it was a fun exhibit. We also enjoyed the packing peanuts that were blown with a fan, the trash bag display and the balloon display to name a few. We also enjoyed some ice cream at the creamery. I haven't been the same since! I kid you not, that is the best ice cream! I think it was years since I last had it, and it was well worth the trip. I read on another blog, that taking photos was not allowed there. But, I didn't see a sign, so if so...whoops! It was a fun day.

Blog posting marathon

Two days...Seven posts! Been catching up before the kids get up! Phew!

Fourth of July Fun

We started off with the parade. Then onto home for brunch made by Brandon...eggs, sausage, hashbrowns etc. We headed up to Brandon's Mom's(Washburns) for some water fun and a BBQ. Then, back home because Tanner and I went to the Stadium of Fire! Don't feel bad for Brandon and the other kids though, they went and watched a local city's fireworks that are actually really good and enjoyed them. Good day!

The Birds

One day, we noticed a bird's nest in a tree in my Mom's backyard. This is the actual photo:I am amazed at how those little birds can create this safe home for their babies, with just two little feet and a beak, and yet it sits up in a tree and withstands the elements. Amazing! Not too long after, baby birds were there waiting for their mama to feed them. Isn't that one of the sweetest things in nature? This is NOT an actual photo, but it's too cute:
Whenever the kids were in the backyard playing, the birds(there were usually two...is this mom and dad or two moms?) were always so nervous and would tweet frantically and fly around the backyard trying to "dive-bomb" them. We would laugh so hard(sorry birds)not because we were teasing them, but just because of how close they would come to us! Frantically trying to "protect" their little ones, they would swoop down and do a fly-by. At one point, Megan said she was scared to walk up the deck stairs to come inside, and my Mom and I encouraged her, saying "They won't get you, it's okay..." As she was walking, I swear, a bird swooped down just inches from her head! It reminded me of one of my fave Hitchcock's:
What do ya think, is this a good one for family night? ;)

Strawberry Patch at Munga's

On the side of my Mom's house, she has a strawberry patch. The kids have always LOVED to go and hunt for ripe strawberries. It is always such a treat to find them. Last week they hit the jackpot! Megan was so sweet to help Gavin and Zach find some for their baskets.
