Blog posting marathon

Two days...Seven posts! Been catching up before the kids get up! Phew!

Fourth of July Fun

We started off with the parade. Then onto home for brunch made by Brandon...eggs, sausage, hashbrowns etc. We headed up to Brandon's Mom's(Washburns) for some water fun and a BBQ. Then, back home because Tanner and I went to the Stadium of Fire! Don't feel bad for Brandon and the other kids though, they went and watched a local city's fireworks that are actually really good and enjoyed them. Good day!

The Birds

One day, we noticed a bird's nest in a tree in my Mom's backyard. This is the actual photo:I am amazed at how those little birds can create this safe home for their babies, with just two little feet and a beak, and yet it sits up in a tree and withstands the elements. Amazing! Not too long after, baby birds were there waiting for their mama to feed them. Isn't that one of the sweetest things in nature? This is NOT an actual photo, but it's too cute:
Whenever the kids were in the backyard playing, the birds(there were usually two...is this mom and dad or two moms?) were always so nervous and would tweet frantically and fly around the backyard trying to "dive-bomb" them. We would laugh so hard(sorry birds)not because we were teasing them, but just because of how close they would come to us! Frantically trying to "protect" their little ones, they would swoop down and do a fly-by. At one point, Megan said she was scared to walk up the deck stairs to come inside, and my Mom and I encouraged her, saying "They won't get you, it's okay..." As she was walking, I swear, a bird swooped down just inches from her head! It reminded me of one of my fave Hitchcock's:
What do ya think, is this a good one for family night? ;)

Strawberry Patch at Munga's

On the side of my Mom's house, she has a strawberry patch. The kids have always LOVED to go and hunt for ripe strawberries. It is always such a treat to find them. Last week they hit the jackpot! Megan was so sweet to help Gavin and Zach find some for their baskets.

Pineview

On June 19th, we went up to Pineview to spend the day. It was the Jensen/Washburn mini trip and Brandon, Tanner and Zach even stayed to camp that night. The weather was great and the water wasn't even TOO cold. Pineview is a gorgeous place, one that I, Jen had never been to. Tanner had a great time water skiing, his favorite boating activity...I wasn't on the boat when he did so no pics from that this year...yet. Zach loved the wave runner. Megan enjoyed riding on the boat, and Gavin liked to simply play on the beach.
